The Lads In Ludlow
This year saw a departure from the normal Lad's Weekend Away activities. Rather then walk up a mountain it was suggested to do a "Surprise" event where the members would pay their money and Jimmski would organise the day's fun.
So on the Friday evening when all the members congregated at the hotel the chaps were told about the next day's events. This was to be a combined outward bound style day.
In the morning the group would split into two teams, each with an instructor, and would go off to do a mixture of timed tasks and puzzles. This ranged from extracting "poison" from a cylinder using minimal equipment, to balancing giant wooden nails on top of each other.
Each successfully completed task would earn the team points which would be converted into money for the afternoon.
After a BBQ lunch the teams used their money to pay for raft building equipment and take part in a raft race. Various members acquitted themselves admirably however special mention should be made of Wozza who it turned out was something of a knot specialist.
We stayed at the Feathers Hotel in Ludlow – you can read a review here. Possibly not the best hotel we've stayed in. Ludlow's reputation of being a foodie's Mecca outside of London took a nosedive on this occasion.
Various people's photos from this weekend away can be seen here.
